Ceasefire Deal Reached

Fifteen months after the onset of the latest U.S.-funded Israeli assault on the Palestinian people, a ceasefire agreement has been announced today. As Indigenous Peoples and allies, we stand in unwavering solidarity with our Palestinian Relatives in their struggle for liberation and the right to live freely on their ancestral lands. We welcome this moment of relief and respite from the atrocities of the ongoing violence.

This ceasefire marks the beginning of a long journey ahead toward justice—a road of return, rebuilding, and holding war criminals accountable. The struggle for liberation must continue with renewed vigor. As Indigenous Peoples, we understand that true security and freedom can only be achieved through decolonization.

The people of Gaza have borne unimaginable suffering. Their sacrifices demand that we press forward toward liberation and ensure that this ceasefire is honored, that Gaza is allowed to rebuild, and that those responsible for these crimes face justice. The destruction is widespread, and nearly every family in Gaza has endured profound loss due to Israel’s U.S.-backed colonial campaign. Even now, over one million people remain displaced and are facing increasing airstrikes, expected to continue until the ceasefire is set to be enacted on Sunday.

We will never forget the millions worldwide who stood against this violence—marching in the streets, protesting oppressive governments, and raising their voices for Indigenous liberation from Turtle Island to Palestine. Palestine has laid bare the hypocrisy and violence inherent in Western “civilization,” a reality Indigenous Peoples have long understood.

Our shared histories as Indigenous Peoples are marked by the devastating impacts of settler colonialism. As we confront ongoing oppression, the erosion of rights, and the struggle to preserve our identities, we are reminded that our fights are interconnected. From Turtle Island to Palestine, we are united in our pursuit of justice, self-determination, and the reclamation of our lands and cultures.
