The First Week Back
It’s been less than a week since this administration began, and the threats are greater than ever. They aim to silence our voices, dismantle our rights, and destroy Mother Earth. But we refuse to surrender.
Within a day of being inaugurated, Trump’s administration signed a blitz of executive orders to begin policies that remake the government.
Many of you in our communities are understandably feeling scared, helpless, and demoralized.
Now more than ever it’s important to remember that this was done in part to frighten and disorient us. While some of these orders had immediate consequences, some were just signals and others are already being challenged in court.
Whether it’s increased ICE raids or expanding exploitative drilling and mining, we refuse to panic. During this time, it’s important that we focus on this administration's concrete actions and what we can do to confront them.
At Honor the Earth, we’ve prepared for this and we’ll continue the work we’ve been doing all along. That work is to organize, invest, and protect.
We organize by strengthening our communities and engaging with each other to work towards a common goal. We invest by supporting Indigenous leadership, self-determination, frontline struggles, healing, and the next generation. And we protect our land, our people and the sacred.
So here’s our promise: We’re going to continue to defend Indigenous sovereignty and the right to stand up and be heard.
We need your support to do that. That’s why today, we are launching our campaign, the “First Hundred Days Watch” which will involve Honor the Earth consistently sharing our analysis about the effects of the second Trump administration’s policies and providing actionable steps for you to take. The fundraising goal of this campaign is to raise $100,000 by the end of the first hundred days. Beyond that, we aim to ready a coalition of supporters who are ready to rise for and defend Indigenous Sovereignty and global liberation.
Honor the Earth has been here for decades and we’ll be here long after January 20, 2029. Like our ancestors, we are resilient. We will not just survive – we will thrive. Together, we will dismantle oppressive systems and build a sustainable future.
